Seasonal Pests
What are the worst pest months in Central Texas?
June through August is peak pest season in Central Texas, with mosquitoes, scorpions, fleas, ticks, and fire ants all at their most active. However, pests are present year-round — spring brings termite swarms and fire ant expansion, fall triggers rodent migration indoors, and winter keeps roaches and rodents active inside homes.
When should I start mosquito treatments?
Start monthly mosquito barrier treatments in March when temperatures consistently reach the mid-60s. Mosquito populations build quickly in spring and peak in summer. Starting early prevents the population explosion that makes evenings outdoors miserable from June through September.
Do I need pest control in the winter?
Yes. Central Texas winters are mild enough for pests to remain active. Rodents are the top winter concern, nesting in attics and wall voids. Roaches and spiders that entered your home in fall reproduce indoors through winter. Maintaining quarterly treatments year-round prevents gaps in your protection.
Why do fire ants get worse after rain?
Rain saturates the soil and forces fire ants to rebuild their mounds at the surface. After a heavy rain, you can see dozens of new mounds appear overnight across Central Texas yards. This is why we recommend proactive fire ant treatment — especially in spring and after significant rainfall events.
Pet Safety
How long should I keep my dog off the yard after treatment?
We recommend keeping pets off treated surfaces until dry, typically 30 to 60 minutes depending on weather conditions. Once the product has dried, your yard is completely safe for dogs, cats, and children. Our technicians will communicate the specific re-entry time after every visit.
What makes your pest control products pet-safe?
We exclusively use EPA-registered products that are labeled for residential use around pets and children. These products are applied at precise concentrations that are effective against insects but safe for mammals once dry. We never use restricted-use pesticides in residential yards.
Can pet waste in my yard attract pests?
Yes. Accumulated pet waste attracts flies, rodents, and other pests to your yard. Fly larvae breed directly in dog feces, and rodents are drawn to the organic material. Beyond pest attraction, pet waste harbors parasites like roundworms, hookworms, and giardia that can infect your pets and family. Regular pet waste removal significantly reduces these risks.
Do you offer flea and tick yard treatment for homes with dogs?
Yes. Our flea and tick yard treatment targets the shaded, moist areas where these parasites concentrate — fence lines, vegetation borders, under decks, and leaf litter. Professional yard treatment works alongside your vet-prescribed flea and tick prevention to provide comprehensive protection for your pets.
